5th Annual Coyote Cull Results And Winners
The GON Coyote Cull is an effort to provide an incentive for hunters and trappers to get after coyotes during the time of year when fawns are dropping and hen turkeys are trying to nest and raise a brood of poults. Another goal of GON’s Coyote Cull is to raise awareness about the damaging impact that coyotes, a non-native, invasive species in Georgia, is having.
We also want folks to realize that if you have a coyote problem, it’s up to you to do something about it. The Coyote Cull hopefully gets some folks to their property to kill some yotes. We know that killing coyotes in May and June is tough, but if you can kill a coyote now, it can make a real difference in fawn and poult survival on your property.
For the Coyote Cull, we conducted a random drawing from among the 74 entries. Here are the 2018 Coyote hunters and trappers who won great prizes:
• Franchi Momentum Bolt-Action .30-06 Springfield Rifle: Adventure Outdoors and Franchi helped us give away a new bolt-action .30-06 Springfield rifle—the Franchi Momentum. This gun retails for $609. The winner of the drawing for the gun was Tiffany Sheppard, of Maysville, who entered with a Banks County coyote. • Trinity Custom Homes $500 Cash Prize: The winner of a $500 check from Trinity Custom Homes was Terry Ransone, of Senoia.
