Coyote Cull Back For 12th Season: Simple to Enter, Great Prizes

GON Staff | April 30, 2025

Eli Luke was one of the winner’s last summer during the 11th annual Coyote Cull. Eli received $500 cash from sponsor Trinity Custom Homes.

It began more than a decade ago as coyotes had spread across Georgia, and this non-native, invasive species was showing up on trail cameras with fawns and turkeys in their mouths.

What could GON do?

A contest that’s super easy to navigate was the result. All that’s needed to enter is a dead coyote in a photo with the hunter or trapper holding up this May 2025 issue of the magazine or the upcoming June and July issues.

This is the 12th year of GON’s Coyote Cull effort. Coyote Cull 2025 begins with this May issue and continues through June and July. Any household can have up to three 2025 entries—one each with a picture of the May, June and July issues of GON.

The goal of Coyote Cull is not to result in the most dead coyotes as possible, as much as it is to raise awareness of the impacts on wildlife from coyotes in Georgia. We conduct the Coyote Cull this time of year because fawns and turkey poults are young and extremely vulnerable to coyotes.

We’re often asked, why do we allow only one entry per month per household? It’s so prizes aren’t all won by commercial trappers or predator-control experts. They could flood the drawing with entries, and they are already killing plenty of coyotes and are getting paid to do it. Coyote Cull is for average sportsmen who wants to do something positive about a non-native, invasive species. See entry instructions and details on the opposite page.

After the July 15, 2025 entry deadline, a random drawing will determine who wins the following prizes:

• CVA Cascade Varmint Hunt Rifle: The Cascade Varmint Hunter is tailor-made for the dedicated varmint specialist. Drawing inspiration from our Cascade Long Range Hunter model, the Cascade VH mirrors precision features, including a medium-heavy barrel contour and a fully featured stock with a flat, wide forend, and customizable length-of-pull and comb height.

Its high-capacity magazine amplifies efficiency for varmint hunting, ensuring more shooting and less loading, all at an affordable price point. Visit bpioutdoors.com/cascade-vh for details. The suggested retail price of the CVA Cascade VH .243 rifle is $900.

How To Enter

The Coyote Cull is designed to be uncomplicated. It’s not a contest to kill the most coyotes or the biggest. There are no check stations. The prizes are simply a great incentive to get folks out right now doing what we should all be doing anyway—taking out some coyotes during the time of year when fawns and turkey poults are being born.

To enter, hunt or trap a coyote, and then email a picture to [email protected] showing the dead coyote and the hunter holding this May 2025 issue of GON, the upcoming June 2025 issue or the July 2025 issue. The email must include hunter’s name, hometown and county where the coyote was taken. There is no entry fee, and you don’t even have to buy the current issue—you can borrow one from a friend. The only reason we require that the hunter hold a current issue is so we know the coyote was killed during this three-month period of this year’s Coyote Cull.

One picture-entry per coyote—your buddy can’t take a picture with your coyote and enter. We will accept entries through July 15. The only rule is a limit of one entry per month, per household. If you enter this month holding the May GON, you (or someone from your household) can enter again the next two months holding the June or July issues. Maximum of three entries per household.

Your entry photo and details can also be mailed to GON Coyote Cull, PO Box 1589, Watkinsville, GA 30677. No entries will be valid or accepted after July 15. Please call 800.438.4663 with questions.
