Tournament Reports April 2011

BFL results from Clarks Hill and Lanier; Fishers Of Men Legacy trail.

Brad Gill | April 2, 2011

Father-and-son Ronald (left) and Taylor Terry took first place at the Fishers of Men Legacy tournament at Eufaula. They weighed in a 15.65-lb. limit and had a 4.67-lb. kicker. They caught 30 fish on chrome-and-blue Rat-L-Traps. They were fishing points up river from Lakepoint and said they were pretty confident bass were staging for the prespawn.

Several Georgia kids are getting plugged into the tournament game at an early age. The Fishers of Men Legacy trail offers an excellent platform for a parent and their child to compete in a bass tournament without all the stress that sometimes accompanies higher profile bass tournaments. These adult/child tournaments are taking place in several states, and Georgia offers three different divisions for parents and kids to compete.

The latest Georgia Legacy tournament took place on Lake Lanier on March 26. Despite bad weather, four adult/child teams competed, and Tom and Hannah Healan won with 8.71 pounds of spotted bass. They were bucks caught on finesse worms in prespawn locations.

Legacy tournaments host pre-tournament meetings at local churches on Friday nights, where they are fed and spend a time of devotion together.
