Paradise Public Fishing Area held the Tifton Kiwanis Kids Fishing Event on June 10, with 600 anglers turning out for the yearly event. A record number 36 youth anglers caught a WRD Angler Award channel catfish and will receive a personalized shirt and hat from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

Everyone was given a hotdog lunch, door prizes were given away, and prizes were given to youth anglers for the two biggest fish caught. The biggest fish weighed 12 pounds.

“Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College was a big help again this year with members of the Wildlife Society volunteering to help with various duties at the event,” said Jesse Boles, assistant manager Paradise Public Fishing Area. “The Mell Baptist Association was also present at the event, handing out free bottled water to everyone. Thanks to the Tifton Kiwanis Club, Tifton Sports Center and Tifton Coca-Cola for sponsoring this yearly event. See everyone again June 8, 2024!”
