Ocmulgee River
The Ocmulgee River flows from the Lake Jackson dam, creating a tailwater fishery that includes shoal bass. The flow meanders through the city of Macon and ultimately joins the Oconee River 241 miles downstream from Jackson, where the two rivers form the Altamaha River near Lumber City. The lower stretch of the Ocmulgee is known for big catfish and good bass fishing.

The Baxley native had just caught his second flounder around the confluence of the Oconee and Ocmulgee rivers where the…

When someone drops a tempting live bait into any Georgia waters, one never knows what might pull on the line. Blake McCann, of Hahira, and his crew headed to the Ocmulgee River to do a little camping. His girlfriend, Reece Erin Holtzclaw, and their friends, Hunter Guay and his wife Kayla, wanted to catch some…

I hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend and are able to work some fishing into your plans. Saltwater will be rough early in the weekend with very strong winds forecasted, but it should calm down late into the weekend. The Okefenokee and ponds are your best bet for the holiday weekend, but…
