Lake Nottely Fishing Report July 2012

GON Staff | June 27, 2012

Nottely: Level: 3 feet below full pool. Temp: 82 to 84 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Good. Eric Welch, of Reel Job Fishing, reports, “We’re catching fish all over the lake. Fish any laydowns and brush throwing a shaky head with a Zoom Trick Worm in green pumpkin, or drop shot a 4.5-inch Roboworm. Also throw a fluke over the laydowns. When the sun gets up, fish any areas you can find the shade that stays the longest.”

Stripers: Good. Darren Hughes reports, “Fish are schooling up in the summer pattern on humps and points and in the mouths of creeks. Downlined blueback herring and gizzard shad have produced the most fish for us this month, but herring seems to be the bait of choice right now. We’ve switched to 8- and 10-lb. leaders and smaller hooks due to the clear water. Early morning has by far been the best bite, and the last two hours before dark have also produced fish. We’re finding fish in the 15- to 25-foot range early morning and deeper as the sun gets up.”
