Lake Jackson Fishing Report August 2011

GON Staff | July 28, 2011

Jackson: Level: Full pool. Temp: 89-91 degrees. Clarity: Light stain to clear.

Bass: Poor to fair. Aaron Batson reports, “The key has been to cover as much water as possible. Shallow fish can be caught with soft plastics like Big Bite Baits Fighting Frog in dark colors like black/blue or green pumpkin. Flipping blowdowns or deeper floating docks has been producing a few fish on the main lake. Dip the soft plastic baits in some JJ’s Magic to get a few more bites. During low-light conditions, run main-lake seawalls with a 3/8-oz. Buzzerbait buzzbait in white or blue glimmer, especially if any overhanging trees are near with the possibility of a mayfly presence. Also around mayflies, a 1/4-oz. Z-Man Chatterbait in brown or black with a Zoom twin-tail grub will get crushed. During the heat of the day, a 3/4-oz. Net Boy Baits football jig has still been working, especially on rocky bottoms. Use brown and green colors, and tip the jig with a 4-inch Big Bite Baits Kriet Kreature.”
