Lake Blue Ridge Fishing Report February 2016

GON Staff | January 27, 2016

Blue Ridge: Level: 8.7 feet below full pool. Temp: 48-50 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Eric Welch reports, “What a crazy winter. With all the rain the past month, the lake has hit full pool twice and has been pulled back down to winter pool twice. With the rising water level, it has pushed the fish up shallow, but now with the latest cold and snow, the fish are now starting to go deep. Fish rocky points and deep rocky banks with a 3/8-oz. jig, in PB&J or green-pumpkin colors. I would also fish a No. 5 Shad Rap and a tube bait. If it’s sunny and there’s wind, I would target banks and flats with a crawfish-colored Rat-L-Trap. I like to keep a eye on my electronics, and when I see some fish bunched up, I will drop a Flex-it spoon down on them. It’s now getting time to throw the Float-n-Fly. I’m targeting long points and deep rocky bluff banks. The colors of flies I like to throw are a perch color and a blue/chartreuse.”
