The Food Chain: This amazing photo came from Jeff Harkins, of Suches, whose camera captured nature in action in the mountains of Union County. This unsuspecting squirrel is about to become an early lunch for a hawk.

The Money Scrape: “I love putting trail cameras on scrapes. It’s like early Christmas!” said Bo Russell, of Saint Simons, a GON Hunt Advisor. This Camden County scrape under a holly tree is hot with buck action every year. “So far this year I have a 7, an 8, a 10 and two cowhorns using it,” Bo said.

Hop Along: Andy Anderson, of Conyers, has photos of this three-legged Elbert County buck from the last two seasons. “In the 2009 season, he had a forkhorn on one side and a spike on the other. I was really surprised to see such a change in the 2010 season (pictured above),” Andy said.

Bed and Breakfast: Damon Dalton, of Bonaire, got several pictures of this Twiggs County bear on Sept. 6. “I built this for a deer feeder, and I’m glad I made it heavy duty. I never thought I would have a bear sleeping in it. I guess after you gorge yourself on corn and with the cool weather, it’s just too much,” Damon said.
