Bear’s Surprise Appearance: Gordan McFarland got a surprise last June 23 on his Putnam County land. “We live on Twin Bridges Road just off 441, and this is the first bear we have ever seen around us. We have a total of four food plots with cameras on three of them. The bear only showed up on the one camera.”

Shutter Speed Props: Remember when trail cameras first came out, and most of your photos were of a walking deer’s tail end? The modern trail cameras are getting better and better at capturing the action. Ricky Peeples submitted the picture.

Covey Rise On Camera: For bird hunters—yes there still are a few in Georgia—few scenes stir a passion more than a covey of quail bursting into flight. Jason Holland, a GON subscriber from Canton, got this trail-camera image of a big covey of quail flushing on his Macon County food plot.

Hancock County Rut Indicator: GON’s Rut Map has the “Magic Day” for the historical peak of Hancock County rut activity pegged as Nov. 9. This past season that date was pretty dang close for this pair. Larry Tatum, of Snellville, got a series of pictures of this nice buck and doe just after 10 p.m. on Nov. 7.
