Bussey Point Deer Hunts Set For Clarks Hill
The hunt dates are set for the 2022 deer season at U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Lincoln County property. The corps hosts these annual archery and muzzleloader deer hunts on the Bussey Point Corps Management Unit, located on a 2,545-acre reservoir peninsula, to maintain the deer population within the carrying capacity for the area, to improve herd quality and provide quality trophy opportunities.
The Bussey Point peninsula will open for hunts on the following 2022 dates: Oct. 21-22, Nov. 18-19 and Dec. 16-17. All hunts are limited to 100 hunters per day. Hunters will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis. Archery and muzzleloader hunters are invited to participate in all scheduled hunts. Hunters must check-in at the entrance gate and check-out at the check station located at the entrance gate. Access hours begin one hour before sunrise and end one hour after sundown.
Hunters must be licensed in accordance with existing Georgia DNR regulations. Licenses will be inspected and collected along with the vehicle tag number. At check-out, hunters must present their harvest and provide survey answers before leaving the property. Licenses will be returned at check-out.
The bag limit is two does and one quality buck for each hunt, per day. Quality bucks are those with antlers that have a 15-inch or more main beam length on at least one side, or a 14-inch or greater outside spread. These bag limits are strictly enforced. All state regulations, including harvest reporting will be enforced, this is a non-quota hunt, meaning the harvest counts toward the state bag limit.
Park visitors who are not hunting are encouraged to find other recreation areas during the scheduled hunts. The management area will be closed two days prior to each hunt, except to hunters scouting or placing deer stands. Weapons are not allowed at Bussey Point on scouting days.

Where’s GON? Hunting Camp Toilet Seat
Leave it to a hunting camp crew to take an old folding metal chair, cut a hole in the seat, and attach a toilet seat top. Now, about that GON sticker on a bathroom implement… we hope that’s not an editorial comment!
Steve Yarbrough sent this photo from his Talbot County hunting camp near Big Lazer.
