Few Slob Fishermen Giving Good Guys A Bad Name
Dear GON,
There are few things in the world of outdoors worse than a slob hunter or fishermen. With all of the different folks and organizations that would love to stop all hunting and fishing, we as responsible outdoorsmen and women really don’t need any help from these slobs.
The incident that has my blood boiling happened Easter morning. While at Long Shoals boat ramp on Lake Oconee, I was trying to catch shad to take my grandchildren hybrid fishing. At the base of the ramp someone had dumped a load of dead carp that they had shot with a bow. These fish were left to rot and show the world what fishermen do, or at least in the eyes of the antis.
Not sure what people do with carp but be responsible with your catch. If you’re not going to eat them, at least take them to someone who will or don’t shoot them. I hope DNR spends some time looking into this.

Editor’s Note: While GON supports the sport of bowfishing and all our friends who do it, we don’t condone improper disposal of carcasses. The bowfishing folks we have worked with on stories through the years often use carp and gar in gardens and flowerbeds. Some eat gar. Dumping piles of fish at a public ramp is not cool, guys. If you don’t have a place to dump them, consider another Friday night activity before you make it harder for the responsible ones who enjoy bowfishing.
White Deer Captured On “New” iPhone
Dear GON,
Had just dropped my granddaughter off and had to hit the brakes to keep from hitting a deer. I have seen several piebalds but never one totally white.
I had just traded my flip phone in on a new iPhone, and it sure came in handy. Sure hope she has a few fawns in her so she can pass on her genes.
