Lake Russell Fishing Report – April 2022

Brad Gill | March 23, 2022

Russell: Level: Full pool. Temp: 60 degrees. Clarity:  The main lake is clear, stained in the creeks.

Bass: Tournament angler Kerry Partain reports, “The bass fishing has been good the last few weeks and should continue to get better this month. We have been catching fish using multiple baits both shallow and deep. There are still a lot of fish out 10 to 20 feet off the primary and secondary points on the main lake and in the creeks. These fish have been biting a Zoom Swimmer rigged on a swimbait head or a Trick Worm rigged on a shaky head. Some of the bigger bass have moved up shallow in the creeks and pockets and are biting jigs, spinnerbaits or a Texas-rigged Zoom Speed Worm. As we head into April, the blueback herring should really start to move up around the shoals, points and bridges, so I will have my topwater and Zoom Super Fluke rigged up for any schooling activity. April is a great month to be on the water because you can catch them staging to spawn, spawning or feeding on the bluebacks.”
