Truck-Buck Contestant Lives Out Boyhood Dream
Dear GON,
I just wanted to send a note to tell you how much I enjoyed being part of the Truck-Buck contest. It had been a dream of mine since a little boy to be part of the contest, and it was everything and more of what I expected it to be. The GON staff has done a great job at making the contest so much fun for not only the participants but also the crowd.

Good Things Continue From Dan Quillian’s Legacy
Dear GON,
Your article on Dan Quillian in the August issue brought back memories from more than 50 years ago.
In 1966, eight friends in Statesboro formed a bowhunting club through our local recreation department. Ralph Turner was head of the department, and we elected him as our first club president of the Bulloch Bowmen.
Ralph invited Dan (Quillian) to Statesboro to help us get started in the new sport of hunting deer with a bow and arrow. Dan came down several times and gave lessons on shooting a bow. He also got a local business to stock American Archery products.
Deer were scarce in the 60s, although Fort Stewart did have a good population. We also hunted Blackbeard Island every year, and several of us got our first deer on Blackbeard. Over the years, we have also hunted Sapelo Island and Ossabaw Island. Although our bowhunting trips to the islands ended last year, we continue to meet monthly. Age has slowed us down (some of us are in our 80s), but we will continue to meet and reminisce about old times.

Me And The Grand Boy Just Love Reading GON Magazine
Dear GON,
I’ve been looking at the GON magazine now for about two years. I just want to say that I can’t wait for the next issue to come. I often find myself looking back at old issues. I like how the magazine is so family oriented, and it’s so truthful.
It is a pleasure to read for all ages. I now have my 7-year-old grandson reading it. He also can’t wait for it to come. Thank you GON magazine for your hard work and dedication to your subscribers. GON magazine is a class act in my book.
