Hunter’s Journal Cohutta Bear Story Hits Home With Me
Dear GON,
I always look forward to receiving GON every month. The January Hunter’s Journal story by Robert Nash about his Cohutta WMA black bear hit very close to home.
My grandsons, Spencer and D.J. Moore, and I had just arrived on Cohutta the afternoon of Friday, Sept. 20. We walked over to introduce ourselves to Robert and Reece, and they told us about the black bear that Robert had harvested that morning. They were gracious enough to allow Spencer and D.J. to get their picture taken with it. That was the first bear that my grandsons had ever seen or touched. I can’t thank you guys enough for your kindness. We will never forget that day.
When Robert and Reece were leaving, not only did they give us a load of split firewood, but they delivered and stacked it at our campsite.
Robert and Reece are great young men and make me proud to be a hunter. Our next generation of hunters need to follow their examples.
Good Lord willing I hope to be back at Cohutta in September with my grandsons. Robert and Reece, we will be looking for you.
Thank you.

Thanks Shaye Baker For Sharing Your Story
Dear GON,
The article from Shaye Baker and his journey with depression was a great piece. I know that it took a lot of courage to write about such a personal issue as his depression.
Depression is still a stigma in our society, but the more people speak out about it, the better.
I am glad that Shaye sought out and received the necessary help that he needed. His impassioned plea to others to get help who may be suffering with the same problems will be a blessing in disguise for those who find help because they read his story.
Thank you, Mr. Baker.
