Special Hunter Education 3-Hour CD Class Will Again Be Held During Outdoor Blast

The Outdoor Blast will again host a special hunter education class that not only fulfills part of the hunter education certification requirement but comes with some special perks.

Before attending the Outdoor Blast class, students must complete an online Hunter Education Course by going to www.gohuntgeorgia.com. Once on the site, mouse over Hunting to see a drop-down window, then mouse over Hunter Education to see a link for Online Course. There are three hunter-eduction online courses available ranging from $9.95 to $24.95, with payment only required upon passing. There are also free options for acquiring your hunter-education certification including full classroom courses and a free a CD-Rom available from any Law Enforcement office.

At the completion of the online course, print the affidavit and sign, or have a guardian sign if you are under 18. Next, list yourself in the Outdoor Blast Hunter Education Class online at www.gohuntgeorgia.com or “walk-in” the Outdoor Blast on Saturday morning, Aug. 3 at 8:30 a.m. No student will be admitted to class without a signed affidavit. Parents or guardians of younger hunters are encouraged to attend the class with the student, although there is limited seating.

The class will last three hours. A course review, firearms hands-on and treestand safety will be included. A 50-question test will be given at the end of the class. Students will need to make a 76 or better to pass.

All students who attend and pass the class will receive their certification card, handouts and other hunting-related items. New this year, when you pass the Hunter Education Course, your certification card doubles as a three-month pass at any DNR shooting range. Also, at the Outdoor Blast both DNR and the Georgia Hunter Education Association will have booths set up to answer questions and hand out new Georgia Hunting Regulation books.
