Hunt Story
This was my last hunt of the season as it was the last weekend before the end of January. I was planning on just shooting a doe, and saw several bucks that had already lost their antlers. At last light, close to 10 different bucks walked out. He was standing where I had ranged multiple times before and knew he was right at 30 yards. I ended up making a great shot but he ran off with the arrow in him. Luckily, I was using lighted nocks so I knew the general direction he ran. After I called my buddy and my Dad, I went to the shot sight after about 10 minutes and found no blood at all. We walked about 60 yards down a steep, thick bank towards a creek and I found a little speck of blood. My buddy was about 30 yards behind me and happened to stumble upon my arrow that had broken off (about 2/3 of the arrow was found with good blood) and the nock was broken as well. I thought that we might need to back out and give it some time, but my dad walked about 20 yards to our left from last blood and there he was! It was a very memorable hunt as it was so late in the season and got to experience it with my dad and buddy.
