GON Office Is Moving To Madison

GON Staff | August 14, 2001

Georgia Outdoor News is moving to the country—making the move from Marietta to Madison.

GON purchased the 13,000-square-foot, 46-year-old Springfield Elementary School, located on Seven Islands Road southeast of Madison.

The building was last used as a school in the early 1970s. Most recently it housed a commercial venture to grow mushrooms.

Renovation of the interior to turn the former classrooms into GON offices has begun and is expected to be completed by late fall.

The exterior of the brick building had been sheathed in blue-gray colored wood siding. The siding is being removed and the building will be returned to its original red-brick-schoolhouse appearance.

The editorial, administration, advertising and production offices for the magazine will be housed in the building as well as the studio for GON video productions.

Printing of the magazine will continue uninterrupted.

The telephone number and mailing address for GON will remain in Marietta until the office moves—with one important exception. In order to be consistent throughout deer season, the mailing address for GON Truck-Buck Contest entries will be to a Madison address.

The 46-year-old Springfield Elementary School south of Madison on Seven Islands Road is being renovated and will become the new office for GON.
