If kids are the future of hunting and fishing, the Ducks Unlimited Greenwings event in Walton County provided an encouraging display of support.

On August 13, the Walton County Ducks Unlimited Chapter held its annual Greenwings event in Social Circle at Jaw-Doc Farm owned by Dr. David Allen. According to Georgia DU Greenwings coordinator Louie Maloy, more than 300 kids showed up for the event — the highest number of kids ever at a Georgia Greenwings event, and up from 260 a year ago.

“If you counted all the adults that came with them, we had about 600 people there,” said Louie.

The kids were treated to Steve Scruggs “Lets Get Wild” program, a dog retrieving demonstration with Jim Hodges, a police K-9 crime-dog demonstration by Rockdale County, a BB-gun shooting contest and dart guns for the smaller kids.
