Lake Eufaula
Lake Eufaula, also known as Walter F. George Lake, named for the United States Senator from Georgia, is formed on the Chattahoochee River along the state line between Alabama and Georgia. Eufaula has long been a great fishing lake, especially for largemouth bass. The town of Eufaula, Ala. is home to Mann's Bait Company and Humminbird Electronics. The 46,000-acre U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lake extends north about 85 miles from the Walter F. George Lock and Dam and has approximately 640 miles of shoreline.

Eufaula: Level: 1.1 feet above 188. Temp: 64 degrees. Clarity: Muddy. Bass: Capt. Sam Williams, of Hawks Fishing Guide Service, reports, “The continuing rains are holding the river at near full pool. This will help the shallow bedding if the water is not pulled off the beds again. It will also make for some great shallow-water fishing as the vegetation begins to germinate. This will make the frog and spinnerbait bites pick up. The record rains have been good for the farmers and the fish. We are just under 24 inches since Jan. 1. While the water remains muddy, the red-colored hard baits and soft plastics are great choices. Noisy baits, like a bladed jig, are really good right now. The vibration carries farther in the dense, dirty water. A good smelly attractant, like J.J’s. Magic, on your bait also leaves a trail in the water for the bass to…

April at Eufaula usually means shallow bass in grass, but there is an even better pattern. George, called Eufaula by most fishermen, is a big U.S.…
Tailraces, those current-filled areas below dams, offer just about everything possible for a positive fishing experience. Fish populations are often plentiful. At times, Lake Eufaula bass seem a bit confused in September. You can catch them from shoreline grassbeds, and on the same trip you can catch some bass 30 feet deep on ledges, so it can be confusing to try to figure out a consistent pattern. You will have to try a variety of things…
