Lake Burton

Lake Burton is a 2,775-acre Georgia Power Co. reservoir located in the northeast corner of Georgia in Rabun County. Burton offers very good bass fishing, and it also has a unique fishery for reservoir trout. The lake is lined with exclusive homes. It is the first lake in a six-lake series of small reservoirs on the Tallulah River. The chain begins with Lake Burton as the northernmost lake followed by Seed, Rabun, Tallulah Falls, Tugalo and Yonah.

Lake Burton Fishing Report – May 2024

Burton: Level:  1.7 feet below 1866.66. Temp: 66 degrees. Clarity: Clear. Bass: Guide Wes Carlton, with Georgia Lake Fishing guide service, reports, “Most of the bass have finished spawning. The bite has been great over the last few days. We have been catching a lot of fish on topwater frogs and Sammys in the morning in pockets off the main lake channel. In the middle of the day, the jerkbait bite has picked up in the creeks around brush and rock ledges. Most of the spotted bass and largemouth are hanging in the 6- to 15-foot water range. We have lots of herring starting to spawn on the seawalls. Look for these baitfish, and cast in and around them with your jerkbait. White, smaller jerkbaits have been working best.
