Lake Burton

Lake Burton is a 2,775-acre Georgia Power Co. reservoir located in the northeast corner of Georgia in Rabun County. Burton offers very good bass fishing, and it also has a unique fishery for reservoir trout. The lake is lined with exclusive homes. It is the first lake in a six-lake series of small reservoirs on the Tallulah River. The chain begins with Lake Burton as the northernmost lake followed by Seed, Rabun, Tallulah Falls, Tugalo and Yonah.

Burton: Level: 1.8 feet below 1866.66. Temp: 81 degrees. Clarity: Clear. Bass: Guide Wes Carlton, with Georgia Lake Fishing guide service, reports, “The bass bite has been really good lately. There has not been as many big fish, but we’ve seen good numbers. The largemouth are still biting frogs well in the morning in and around docks. The Zoom Horny Toad seems to be working best. The spotted bass bite has been decent midway back in the creeks near the herring schools. The Berkley Magic Swimmer (silver) has been producing some nice fish in the 3- to 4-lb. range. Look for this bite to pick up in the next few weeks.
