Lake Burton

Lake Burton is a 2,775-acre Georgia Power Co. reservoir located in the northeast corner of Georgia in Rabun County. Burton offers very good bass fishing, and it also has a unique fishery for reservoir trout. The lake is lined with exclusive homes. It is the first lake in a six-lake series of small reservoirs on the Tallulah River. The chain begins with Lake Burton as the northernmost lake followed by Seed, Rabun, Tallulah Falls, Tugalo and Yonah.

Burton: Level: 3.8 feet below 1866.66. Temp: 46 degrees. Clarity: Clear. Bass: Guide Tyler Clore reports, “With the cooler temps setting in, the fish are transitioning to the creeks and ditches.  First thing in the morning, we have been catching fish on a Spro RkCrawer crankbait in a crawdad color. On cloudy days, we are finding fish chasing and schooling on the shallow bait. We are catching these fish on a jerkbait. I prefer a Megabass Oneten in a herring color. On sunny days, the bait wants to stay deeper. We are targeting these fish with a Fish Head Spin with a Keitech swimbait. Use a slow retrieve and keep your spin near the bottom.
