Lake Burton Fishing Report – June 2025

GON Staff | May 28, 2025

Burton: Level: 1.3 feet below 1866.66. Temp: 70 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Wes Carlton of Georgia Lake Fishing guide service reports, “The bass bite has been good the last few days. We have caught fish all over the lake. Shallow seems to be the better bite right now. We have been casting topwater plugs and Zoom Super Flukes in pearl in and around brushpiles and rock outcroppings along the seawalls. The herring spawn has been good this year. The next few weeks will be a good time to fish with a Sebile Magic Swimmer in white or the halo greenie color. Try fishing seawalls on the main-lake channel. This bite should continue to be strong until the water temps get into the low 70s and 80s.”

Trout: Guide Wes Carlton reports, “The brown trout bite has been a little slow for the bigger fish the last week or so. We have caught some of the smaller trout, including a few rainbows, casting in the shallows at the mouths of the  creeks. A white Rooster Tail or a black Mepps spinner has been working well. Look for these fish to transition to a summer pattern and go deeper over the next few weeks. The trolling bite will pick up when the water temp hits the mid 70s.”
