Lake Weiss Fishing Reports – November 2020

GON Staff | October 29, 2020

Weiss: Level: 2.5 feet below full pool. Temp: Upper 60s. Clarity: Lightly stained.

Bass: Guide and tournament pro Mike Carter reports, “Weiss has started showing some promise lately with bass starting to move to shallower areas. This can create some aggressive action with Echo squarebills and Rat-L-Traps while focusing on shallow points and stump flats. Early morning topwater action is a very consistent pattern this time of year. Using baits like Stutter Step and Choo Choo buzzbaits can be very consistent for early morning and late afternoon action. The lake level has started to fall and will for the next couple of months until it reaches winter level. Fall fishing on Weiss can be an absolute blast with some hard fighting Coosa spots.”

Crappie: Guide Mark Collins reports, “The bite is getting better and should get a lot better as it cools. Crappie are on deeper cover 14 to 20 feet on the main Coosa River channel ledges from Cedar Bluff to Leesburg. Spider rigging over brush with live minnows and jigs is catching fish. Shooting docks with jigs is also producing some fish. It looks like November and December are going to be good months.”
