Lake Weiss Fishing Report – November 2019

GON Staff | October 26, 2019

Weiss: Level: 2.5 feet below full pool. Temp: Low 70s. Clarity: Light stain.

Bass: Guide and tournament angler Mike Carter reports, “This lake can be an absolute blast this time of year for some aggressive Coosa River spotted bass action on Echo Squarebill crankbaits and Rat-L-Traps. These baits will allow an angler to cover a lot of areas at a quicker pace and will help in finding the more productive points and shallow flats. The lake is dropping at its normal pace for this time of year and is creating a little more of dangerous areas for navigating your boat, so using your GPS on this lake this time of year is a must.” Guide Mark Collins reports, “Bass fishing is good. The fishing has started to improve with the cooling trend, and it will get better over the next few weeks. A lot of fish have moved shallow in the creeks and bays, chasing shad, feeding up for the winter. Rat-L-Traps are working good right now, as are flat-sided crankbaits.”

Crappie: Guide Mark Collins reports, “The fishing is good, and most fish are out deep on the river and creek channel ledges. They are showing up on structure in the 12- to 16-foot range. Spider rigging with minnows is the best way to target these fish.”
