Lake Weiss Fishing Report February 2015

GON Staff | January 29, 2015

Weiss: Level: 5.7 feet below full pool. Temp: Mid to upper 40s. Clarity: Stained.

Bass: Fair. Guide Mark Collins reports, “Bass have moved back to the old creek and river channel ledges. Carolina-rigged plastics, Texas-rigged Senko worms and jigs are producing well right now. The ledges in Little River and the Chattooga River are producing the best.”

Crappie: Good. “Crappie have moved off the ledges and suspended in the creek and river channels from 10 to 15 feet deep,” said Mark. “Long-line trolling with 1/16-oz. Jiffy Jigs in colors JJ08, JJ13, JJ24 and JJ41 is the way to catch these winter fish. They can also be caught on a Float-n-Fly technique fished 8 to 12 feet deep.”

Stripers: Good. Mark said, “A lot of fish have shown up in the main lake over the last few weeks. Slow trolling live shad or a 1/4-oz. jig with a 3-inch Sassy Shad body is producing some good stripers.”
