Lake Weiss Fishing Report – August 2019

GON Staff | July 24, 2019

Weiss: Level: Full pool. Temp: Mid 80s. Clarity: Light stain.

Bass: Guide and tournament angler Mike Carter reports, “Lake Weiss has been extremely slow during the daytime, but when it gets dark, the big aggressive Coosa River spots that this lake is famous for get very aggressive. Fishing this lake at night can give an angler a better perspective on having a great time catching some quality fish and not having to spend the day pouring sweat, which can make for a long day, especially if the fishing is slow. When fishing at night, using big Choo Choo spinnerbaits around deep points and ledges is the ticket for a productive night on Weiss. Have some fun!”

Crappie: Guide Mark Collins reports, “The crappie fishing is poor with most fish out deep on deeper brush. Spider rigging with minnows is producing some fish on the main river ledges.”
