Lake Weiss Fishing Report – August 2018

GON Staff | August 1, 2018

Weiss: Level: 0.2 feet low. Temp: Mid 80s. Clarity: Light stain.

Bass: Guide and tournament pro Mike Carter reports, “Weiss has produced some great summertime bass fishing action, and this should continue through the next couple of months. Start out with Stutter Steps for topwater action along seawalls and rip-rap areas early in the morning. Moving out to the deeper humps and ledges up in the day with shaky head worms and Carolina-rigged lizards can produce a consistent bite. This deeper pattern takes a little looking around with your electronics to find the areas with some good structure for the fish to hold in next to deeper water. If ledge fishing is not your game, then Weiss has many docks to fish that can also produce some consistent fish, especially the deeper docks that are along the main river areas. The one pattern that can really show one a great time during these hot months and can produce some solid hard-hitting fishing action is waiting until dark. Slow-roll a Choo Choo spinnerbait along and around deeper humps and ledges for some of those magnum Coosa River spotted bass.”
