Lake Jackson Fishing Report September 2014

GON Staff | August 27, 2014

Jackson: Level: 0.6 feet above full pool. Temp: High 80s. Clarity: Stained over most of the lake.

Bass: Aaron Batson reports, “Bass are being caught mostly deeper on Carolina-rigged worms and football jigs worked on main-lake points and humps. Start looking in 18 to 22 feet of water. Good baits for the Carolina rig are Wackem Crazy Baits Big Sissy worms in natural colors or a Zoom lizard. For the football jig, stick to a 1/2-oz. Net Boy Baits football-head jig, and tip the jig with a Wackem Crazy Baits Small Tater Bug. Later in the month as cooler weather arrives, begin to look for schools of shad that move into the mouths of coves. The bass will follow. Look for early morning action on seawalls, and fish 1/4-oz. spinnerbaits or topwater plugs.”
