Lake Jackson Fishing Report – September 2008

GON Staff | August 26, 2008

Jackson: Level: 1.8 feet below full pool. Temp: 86-88 degrees. Clarity: Mostly clear.

Bass: Aaron Batson said 10 to 12 pounds would be plenty of weight to win a pot tournament right now. “Bites are tough,” said Aaron. “Look for them to stay deep. There is a small window to catch some topwater/schooling fish early and late in the day. They will eat a Pop-R or small Sammy. Most deep-water bites are coming on a 1/4-oz. Net Boy Baits shaky head with a Zoom Trick Worm in 15 to 25 feet of water. Some days you can catch a few on deep-running crankbaits like a Manns 20+, but not many. The 3/4-oz. Net Boy Baits jigs are still catching a few good fish in 20- to 25-foot brushpiles. This pattern is mostly catching good spots down near the dam, but it’s only a few.” Eric Perkins said the fishing was tough over the weekend. He and his 15-year-old neighbor Austin fished a tournament. They came in second with 6-09; the winning weight was only 6-12.
