Lake Jackson Fishing Report – October 2006

GON Staff | September 25, 2006

Jackson: Level: Down 1.3 feet. Temp: 82 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Fair. Mike Meason won a Delta tournament with 11 pounds. “We fished shallow concrete seawalls with Flukes, Sammys, Pop-Rs and lead-head Trick Worms,” said Mike. “Then we’d fish the closest obvious structure, whether that was a point or dock.” Aaron Batson said if he had to fish an October tournament, he’d go down the lake and look for clear water. “I’d throw a Spook or Sammy for about three hours, trying to stick a limit,” said Aaron. “Then I’d go back up the river and run a spinnerbait and a jig for a good largemouth.” Aaron likes a white, 1/4-oz. spinnerbait with two silver willowleaf blades. Key on shad, which will be on docks and blowdowns. By the end of the month, look for fish in the backs of the pockets.
