Lake Jackson Fishing Report – November 2006

GON Staff | October 24, 2006

Jackson: Level: Down 1.2 feet below full pool. Temp: 70 degrees. Clarity: Fairly clear to light stain.

Bass: Good. The lake is unusually clear, but Aaron Batson said if we get some rain and a decent stain up the rivers, he’s going to head up the South and Yellow rivers. He’ll pitch at blowdowns with a black/blue jig with a green-pumpkin trailer. Also, a chartreuse/blue spinnerbait with one single gold Colorado blade will be a good bait. “The rivers are just so clear now that the fish are spooky and hard to catch. They’re not used to water that clear,” said Aaron. Until the water stains Aaron will fish down the lake — from the dam up to the first bridge in Tussahaw. He’ll be keying on blowdowns and will throw shallow-running crankbaits on the ends of blowdowns. A white spinnerbait with a pair of willowleaf blades will work. At the end of the month fish will begin heading back out. Look on rocks in 10 to 12 feet of water.
