Lake Jackson Fishing Report – March 2024

GON Staff | February 28, 2024

Jackson: Level: 1 foot over 528. Temp: Mid to low 50s. Clarity: Stained to heavy stain.

Bass: Tournament angler Willie McMullen, reports that many bass will spawn around the full moon in March.  A spinnerbait and bladed jig fished around wood will catch them. Start near the mouths of coves and pockets and work all the way to the backs, hitting all cover and secondary points you come to. You can catch fish on a crankbait, but they will mostly be smaller buck bass looking for a place to start fanning beds. With all baits, follow up with a jig for fish not wanting to chase a moving bait. Spots can be anywhere. They are like ghosts, here today and gone tomorrow. Fish a shaky head on rocks. If you get your bait near one, it will probably hit.”
