Lake Jackson Fishing Report – February 2010

GON Staff | January 26, 2010

Jackson: Level: 0.6 feet above full pool. Temp: 43-48 degrees. Clarity: Heavy stain over most of the lake.

Bass: “Fishing is just way off right now,” said Aaron Batson. “The extreme cold the last few weeks has hurt the fishing, and then top it off with heavy rains. This makes for some cold, muddy water that is very unstable. At this time, I would concentrate on offshore areas near the dam. A Net Boy Baits ScrewBall jig head with a Zoom Finesse worm in black or junebug would probably get a few bites. The bite should quickly pick up by mid month with some warmer temps. Begin to look shallower if water temperatures rise above 50 for a few days. Work a No. 8 Shad Rap or a 1/2-oz. Rat-L-Trap on hard-bottom areas with lots of sun. Or try a 1/2-oz. Net Boy Baits Flipp’N Jig on rip-rap rock. Drag the bait extremely slow, keeping contact with the bottom at all times.”
