Lake Jackson Fishing Report – August 2021

GON Staff | July 28, 2021

Jackson: Level: 0.7 feet above full. Temp: 89-93 degrees. Clarity: Up the river is blown out. The best fishing water is in Tussahaw Creek and then down to the dam.

Bass: One tournament angler was quoted recently as saying, “The recreational traffic on Jackson has destroyed this lake.” Right now fishing is as tough as it gets. The Friday night Berry’s tournament was won with a limit of fish that weighed 7 pounds. There’s still some mayflies hatching, and you can get a few swirls on a buzzbait and frog first and last light. The most consistent bite is going to be on a drop shot or a crankbait down the lake in 15 to 25 feet of water. These same two baits can catch a few of the bass that are hanging next to bridge pilings.
