Lake Eufaula Fishing Report August 2013

GON Staff | July 31, 2013

Eufaula: Level: 1.3 feet above full pool. Temp: Mid 80s. Clarity: Stained back in the creeks, good color on the main lake.

Bass:
Good. There’s a shallow bite early, and the famed Eufaula summertime cranking bite on the main river ledges has been very good the past couple of weeks. Capt. Sam Williams reports, “The lake is at full pool, and the shore cover is loaded with baitfish. The cloudy days make the shallow bite last longer. As the day moves on, change from the topwater baits to a submerged or bottom bait. Keep working slow. The ledge bite is good around any type of cover or bend if the water is moving. A good sonar will get you on some good brush or other cover. Heavy jigs are a good choice. Black-blue or browns are doing well. The backs of the creeks are very muddy. You will save time if you work the outside areas of the creeks and the main river. The water color in these areas is good. Keep a close eye on the afternoon weather, and watch the afternoon storms. With the excessive heat, they build up and move in fast. Be sure and keep plenty of water and sunscreen with you.”
