Lake Chatuge Fishing Report – November 2024
GON Staff | October 30, 2024
Chatuge: Level: 5.4 feet below 1925. Temp: 68-70 degrees. Clarity: Clear.
Bass: Guide Eric Welch, of Welch’s Guide Service, reports, “Fishing has been good. There has been a lot of topwater action going on. You may just have to move around to find it. I’ve seen some on the main body, and I’ve also seen them in the mouths of pockets and back near the creeks. I’ve been catching them on an Ima Stick, Berkley Cane Walker and a Lucky Craft Gunfish. There have been some good groups of fish on the offshore brush and ditches. Try throwing a drop shot or shaky head on these fish. I’ve also been catching some good spots on a Zoom Fluke with a weighted hook to get it down a couple of feet. The topwater bite should increase as the water temp continues to drop. It’s also a good time of year to start throwing glide baits and hard-body swimbaits. These bigger fish are not afraid to eat that big meal. With the forward-facing sonar, you can chase the bait that the fish are chasing and breaking up. I will throw a spy bait and also a minnow-style bait on a swimbait head in around these baitfish. Once the water reaches around 55 degrees, I’ve had some good luck throwing the A-rig. Good luck.
