Lake Chatuge Fishing Report – November 2006

GON Staff | October 24, 2006

Chatuge: Level: 6.5 feet below full pool. Temp: 65-67 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Wildlife Resources Division (WRD) biologists were on Chatuge sampling fish populations with electrofishing equipment in early October and found largemouth bass concentrated in downed treetops along the shoreline. The bass averaged two pounds, with one out of every 10 fish weighing more than five pounds. Spinnerbaits, crankbaits — like a No. 7 Shad Rap — or pearl-colored flukes are a good bet around blowdowns or brushpiles back in the creeks. On the main lake for spotted bass, throw a shad-colored No. 7 Shad Rap on main-lake points, and have Sammy ready to throw to any breaking fish. The drop-back pattern at Chatuge is a green-pumpkin Zoom Finesse worm in the brushpiles.
