Lake Chatuge Fishing Report – May 2023

GON Staff | April 26, 2023

Chatuge: Level: 2 below 1925. Temp: 64-66 degrees. Clarity: Clear

Bass: Guide Eric Welch, of Welch’s Guide Service, reports, “Fishing has been good. There are still some fish trying to spawn around pebble rocky banks, points and also in the backs of pockets. The majority of bass are already done spawning and are protecting fry or moving out to their summer locations. Try using a Zoom Trick Worm or a Fluke in and around laydowns and docks. Once these fish get done spawning and leave their fry, you have about a week before the fish really get to biting again. Normally, you will start seeing some topwater going on. I like to throw a Berkley Cane Walker and a Strike King Sexy Dawg. If you’ve never tried a glide bait, this is a good month to throw one since the fish are starting to feed after the spawn. Good luck.”
