Lake Chatuge Fishing Report – May 2019

GON Staff | April 30, 2019

Chatuge: Level: 1 foot above full. Temp: 66-68 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Eric Welch reports, “Most the fish are about done spawning. There are a few late spawners hanging around in the pockets and creeks. Try throwing a Strike King 3.75 Rage Swimmer along with a wacky-rigged Senko. There are a lot of spotted bass hanging out around the pebble rocky banks and points in 8 to 12 feet of water. Some are staged there before they move back out deep. I’m throwing a 3.5-inch tube, shaky head and a Z-Man Ned rig. Also fish a Trick Worm and a fluke around docks. Keep a couple topwater lures tied on because there has been some breaking fish in the mornings and throughout the day. My lures of choice is a Whooper Plooper and a Strike King Sexy Dawg. Good luck.”
