Lake Chatuge Fishing Report – May 2008

GON Staff | April 29, 2008

Chatuge: Level: 2.3 feet below full pool. Temp: Mid 60s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Good. The spots that are coming off the beds are running down Shad Raps and jerkbaits on rocky main-lake points and banks. The topwater bite has just begun. Sammys will work, but a smaller profile bait like a Pop-R is better. As the water warms toward 70 degrees, have a bubblegum-colored Trick Worm ready to hit any shoreline cover you come to. Once the sun gets on the water, slow down and move a little deeper with a green-pumpkin Zoom Finesse worm in brush in the 15- to 20-foot range. For largemouths, fish back in the pockets with a spinnerbait, fluke or jig ’n pig around blowdowns.
