Lake Chatuge Fishing Report – March 2025
GON Staff | February 26, 2025
Chatuge: Level: 6.8 feet below 1925. Temp: 43-45 degrees. Clarity: Clear.
Bass: Eric Welch, of Welch’s Guide Servicee, reports, “Fishing has been decent. The lake level has risen a little from all the rain, and the water temp has dropped a couple of degrees. There has been a lot of bait in the 20- to 40-foot range, and most of them will have a few fish around them. I will cast a blade bait in the area to see if the fish will react, and then I will follow up with jig-head-minnow bait. It’s also a good time to throw the A-rig through the bait that has fish under them. I will throw a 3.5-inch tube and a Ned rig around rocky banks and points. Try throwing a Strike King 3XD crankbait this time of year. It normally mimics the size of bait the fish are feeding on. I’m going to drag a Ned rig in green pumpkin, a 3.5-inch tube and also a 3.8-oz. jig in green pumpkin and pb&j. My choice of jerkbaits is going to be Lucky Craft, Berkley Stunna and a Mega Bass. If you have a day with some wind, throw a spinnerbait around. You can also get bit on a shaky head and drop shot, just downsize for the colder water. Good luck.”
