Lake Chatuge Fishing Report – March 2008

GON Staff | February 27, 2008

Chatuge: Level: 15 feet below full pool. Temp: Upper 40s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass:
Slow. March is usually when the winter doldrums end at Chatuge. With about 5 degrees more of water temperature, the spots will begin to move up on main-lake points and rocky banks staging for the spawn and the cranking bite will pick up. Shad Raps and Norman’s Deep Little Ns as well as Pointer jerkbaits will catch fish. If the fish aren’t running down the crankbaits or jerkbaits, try a green-pumpkin Zoom Finesse worm on a drop-shot rig, or tube jigs in any shade of green on rocky main-lake points, and especially around brushpiles.
