Lake Chatuge Fishing Report – July 2007

GON Staff | July 13, 2007

Chatuge: Level: 4.9 feet below full pool. Temp: 81 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: If you fish Chatuge, you can expect either to blank or to catch a lot of bass, said John Hembree. A Saturday, June 23 daytime tournament was won with 19 pounds, and it took 17 for second and 14 for third — but a lot of boats blanked. John said many of the fish were caught early on topwater baits or in shallow water around wood structure on spinnerbaits or flukes. John fished a Saturday evening tournament on the lake, and there was only one limit weighed in from among 17 or 18 boats. “The fish are suspended and roaming around before they settle down on the brush. Usually by the middle of July they will be on brush, and the worm bite is pretty good.”
