Lake Chatuge Fishing Report – January 2007

GON Staff | January 2, 2007

Chatuge: Level: 8.7 feet below full pool. Temp: 48-50 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass:
Good. A recent tournament on the lake was reportedly won on jigging spoons, and as the water temperature drops, the spooning bite on main-lake points should improve. The fish are on their winter pattern, which means deep drops and brushpiles. Nathan Lewis recommends starting with a jigging spoon on main-lake points near deep water and watching your graph for bait, brush or drops that may hold fish. A jigging spoon, drop-shot rig or Zoom Finesse worm in green pumpkin dabbled in main-lake brushpiles 20 to 30 feet deep is a solid wintertime pattern.
