Lake Chatuge Fishing Report January 2006

GON Staff | January 1, 2006

Chatuge: Level: 7.4 feet below full pool. Temp: 47-50 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Slow. And this time of year, you need to slow down to catch fish. Daniel Workman says he loves to fish crankbaits and spinnerbaits, but this time of year at Chatuge, he will likely have a worm tied on. “You have to fish slowly,” he said. I like to fish something like a Creepy Crawler or a worm in brushpiles in the 20- to 25-foot range. I also have some rockpiles that are very productive in the winter.” John Hembree recommends jigging spoons, worms, and leadhead worms in the same kinds of structure.
