Lake Chatuge Fishing Report – February 2019

GON Staff | January 25, 2019

Chatuge: Level: 3.9 feet below full. Temp: 46 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Eric Welch reports, “With all the rain, the lake has been coming up, which has made fishing a little tough. If you’re out on a sunny day, try throwing an umbrella rig around areas that will warm up faster, like spawning areas, shallow docks, red clay points and pebble rock (pea gravel) points. You will also mark fish out off long points in 25 to 35 feet of water, so try throwing a drop shot with a 4.5-inch Roboworm and a Z-Man Ned Rig. I’m also going to throw a 3/8-oz. PB&J jig around docks and any laydowns. Try throwing small crankbaits around rock and spawning areas. The bass will relate to these areas because they are going to warm up faster on the cooler days. Also remember to downsize your line if you want to catch more fish in the winter.”
