Lake Chatuge Fishing Report – February 2010

GON Staff | January 26, 2010

Chatuge: Level: 7.5 feet below full pool. Temp: High 30s to low 40s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass:
Poor. At the end of January, Charlie Baldwin said there was a sheet of ice across the lake, and it wasn’t even worth fishing. However, the February thaw should make it fishable again. Doodling a Zoom Finesse worm in green pumpkin over deep brush in the 18 to 20 foot depths is always a good tactic for spots. With a good warming trend of three or four days, a shallow bite might also pick up on main-lake points with a small crankbait. Charlie likes a Shad Rap for this bite. “Just throw it up there near the bank, bring it back and hope,” he said.
