Lake Chatuge Fishing Report – February 2009

GON Staff | January 27, 2009

Chatuge: Level: 6.4 feet below full pool. Temp: Mid to high 40s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass:
Slow. In the depths of winter, the fishing has been slow, but a February thaw could come to pick things up, and the fish could move into prespawn patterns by the end of the month. It’ll be time to get out your crankbaits and jerkbaits to catch spots on rocky humps and points. A crankbait that runs in the 6- to 8-foot range, like a Shad Rap, should do the trick. A suspending jerkbait, like a Husky Jerk or a Rattlin’ Rogue, could also produce on the rocks. If all else fails, fall back to throwing a jig-head worm to brush.
