Lake Chatuge Fishing Report – August 2008

GON Staff | July 29, 2008

Chatuge: Level: Down 3 feet below full pool. Temp: Mid 80s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass:
Heath Pack said he has been targeting largemouths at Chatuge by heading into the creeks and the river and fishing a 1/2-oz. jig in brush and laydowns. On a late July trip he caught 10 largemouths, mostly around wood cover. The biggest weighed about 3 1/2 pounds. “When (TVA) starts pulling the water down, there isn’t much cover in these mountain lakes, but if you can find some isolated cover in the area where the cooler water from a creek or from the river begins, there will usually be a bass on it,” said Heath.
