Lake Chatuge Fishing Report April 2017

GON Staff | March 29, 2017

Chatuge: Level: 6 feet below full pool. Temp: 50-54 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Eric Welch reports, “Due to last week’s cold front, all the mountain lake water temps have dropped some. The spotted bass are trying to move up. You can find them scattered on points, sloped banks and spawning flats. We’ve been catching them on a variety of baits: jerkbaits, A-rigs, swimbaits, shaky heads and drop shots. They’ve also been pushing bait around feeding, and you can catch them on a fluke with a jig head. The largemouth have been coming up cruising around in the pockets and spawning areas. I’ve been targeting them with flukes, swim baits and 2.5-inch flat-billed crankbaits. The fishing is only going to get better as the days warm up this month, so target the spawning areas.”
